The Lincoln National Bank building is located at 1575 Avella Road in downtown Avella, Pennsylvania. It is a two story brick structure of neo-classical design that was built in 1923 and was one of the largest banking institutions in the country until its closing during the Great Depression in 1931.
The building sat vacant and deteriorated for many years until the Avella Area Community Association purchased the bank building in 2008.
With the help of volunteers, public support in the form of labor and material donations, and LSA grant funds, much progress has been made in restoring this building to its former grandeur. Necessary exterior repairs have been completed as well as interior clean up and removal of obsolete mechanical systems.
The next phase of the project is completing an interior use plan to utilize the building as a business incubator for the benefit of the community.
